Committees

A committee is a group of people who work together on a specific topic or task. They discuss, contribute ideas, and use their knowledge and experience to provide advice to the board or an organisation. In this way, a committee helps prepare decisions more effectively, address issues more quickly, and distribute the work fairly.

What are committees?

To better address specific projects or themes, Samen Wonen supports temporary committees, for example in relation to major maintenance, renovation/new construction, or other important issues. This includes, among other things, having a board member take part in these committees.

A residents’ committee is a group of tenants that represents the interests of residents of a housing complex or neighbourhood. Under the Consultation Act, a residents’ committee has the right to consult with the landlord on matters such as maintenance, liveability, service charges, and renovations. The Tenants’ Association Samen Wonen supports several local residents’ committees.

The audit committee is responsible for the financial oversight of the association. It checks whether the board has managed the finances correctly, for example by reviewing income, expenses, and whether these have been properly recorded. The audit committee reports its findings to the general members’ meeting and advises whether the board can be discharged from financial responsibility.
